Non-Governmental Organizations

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are a key community of the World Economic Forum. NGOs contribute to the building of solid partnerships between business and other actors of society to improve the state of the world.

Each year NGOs participate in the Forum's Annual Meeting as well as regional meetings. They are encouraged to express their ideas and comments openly and they also consult with the Forum on improving and integrating NGOs in its activities.

For the Annual Meetings 2003 and 2004 a number of Swiss civil society organizations worked with the Forum on specific sessions open to the general public. Held under the heading Open Forum Davos, these sessions are part of the official programme of the Annual Meeting and will be accessible to the residents of Davos and anyone else who is interested in the topics under discussion.

NGOs also play a significant role in a number of Forum public-private partnership initiatives.
